ntrinsic motivation refers to motivation that is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task itself, and exists within the individual rather than relying on any external pressure.

It is based on taking pleasure in an activity rather than working towards an external reward.

An athlete no matter how good he/she is needs motivation. At times they will get discouraged by what they see or hear from other people and will need to seek other ways to be inspired.

Knowing how to keep yourself motivated will help keep you focused even in the midst of distractions.

 

This is Part 5 of the series of interviews with Raven Magwood, a teenage author, motivational speaker, and TV talk show host.

In this video, Raven will tell us how she hasathletes motivation kept herself motivated all through her athletic career.

I would always tell myself, “I can do this!” It sounds so simple. I remember getting on the beam and telling myself, “I can do this! I can do this! Raven, you can do this. You can do this.”

I kept repeating that to myself over and over again. “Forget about what is distracting me, you can do this!”

It was something I kept telling myself and it worked to my advantage.
