Does this sound familiar…

mental toughness in sportsYou wake up in the morning all fired up to run a few miles to train with your kid.  His coach gave him a list of things to work on to make varsity, including improving his stamina.

But when he finally comes down for breakfast, he grabs something to go and tells you he’s going over to his friend’s house.

“What? But I thought we were going to train together today?”

“Oh yeah, Dad, we’ll have to do that tomorrow, Kyle’s got a new video game that he says is the coolest one ever, see ya.”…. and off he goes.

As a parent myself, it’s really easy to get frustrated when your kid doesn’t follow through on a goal or commitment that they said was important to them.

It is especially frustrating, when you do everything on your end to support them and then you find them playing on Facebook or lounging around watching TV instead of working on their game.

We hear stories from parents like Jim and Nancy all the time… Their son Jake, a 16-year-old baseball player, has great talent, but his mental toughness in sportscoach says he is not playing anywhere near his potential because of his poor work ethic.  Jim and Nancy are baffled as to how their kid can say he wants to get a college scholarship and then blow off practice the next day.

I bet you see the value of helping your kids work on their mental game, but are wondering how in the world are you going to get them to do it?

We know there are some kids who are extremely motivated to achieve their goals, do any training necessary and practice their drills until dark.  You may be one of those lucky parents, but from my experience it’s actually pretty rare.

We understand this issue and took this into consideration when creating our Mental Toughness Training course.

We broke it down so your athlete can quickly go for help for any issue they are experiencing right at that moment… like performance anxiety.  When the issue comes up, they can go watch the short video and deal with it immediately.

Another example… if they are feeling that pressure right before a big game, they can watch the training on “getting over fear and nervousness.”  Then in the car ride over they can listen to the guided visualization to get them into a peak performance state.

Your athlete will have EXACTLY what they need, RIGHT WHEN THEY NEED IT at their fingertips – on their ipod or cellphone.

Think of it like a tool kit they can always have in their pocket to keep them in a positive mental state and ready to play their best.mental toughness in sports

You should not wait until they have a big problem and then purchase the training.   They need to nip it in the bud, BEFORE their issue gets bigger and potentially affects them for life.

Most parents have a hard time knowing what is the best thing to do or say.  If they own the training, instead of sitting in their room beating themselves up, they will go through the emotional mastery module and work through their difficult feelings.  This way they build themselves back up immediately.

Would you know what to do if your athlete needs help focusing? Module 2 and 3 both address this issue and give them simple techniques to get them focused and determined.

I’ll bet you have heard discouraged and disempowering words coming out of your child’s mouth like, “I’ll never be as good as…”  or the ever famous “I just can’t…”

Have you had any luck getting them to stop?  Module 5 gives them specific steps to eliminate negative self talk and the importance of why they need to do this – immediately!

mental toughness in sportsWhat about that inevitable time when the coach yells at or calls out your kid for a mistake in practice or the game?  This hits kids very hard. Module 8 will help them get through it feeling stronger and more confident.

We know from working with 100’s of kids that they need to jump on these issues as soon as they come up and right when they are motivated by the pain or hurt from their issue to work on them.

AND at the same time you will be giving them powerful life skills!

If you purchase the training today, your athlete may not go through it all right away.  That is OK.   What is most important is that they will have the training in a tough situation or crunch time when they need it!

Mental toughness is the ability to come back from adversity like a champion.
