build confidence

Building Confidence in Baseball through Visualization.

This is part 3 in the series of interviews with Coach Dan Clemens.

Here, he shares with us How To Build Confidence In Baseball: Use Visualization

Read on as Coach Dan discusses how the power of visualization can help you become a more confident baseball player.

If the kids can think back to a time when they have been successful at something like in batting practice, if a kid has really been struggling and he has a couple of really good swings and hits the ball well, then I will say:

“Remember what you were thinking? Remember what you were feeling? Remember what you did right here? We’ve got a game tomorrow and I want you to think about that and I want you to do the same thing.”

When we flash forward to the game, then that kid will get up into the batter’s box and you say, “Hey, Jimmy just like you did yesterday, remember what you were thinking? Remember what you were feeling? It is the same thing right here.”

What I am trying to do is some mental mapping.

It is something that they have done before and we are giving them that same feeling of,”I can have success with this.” It is a little bit of visualization and a little bit of confidence building all at the same time.
