Welcome back for Pressure Tip #3 where you will learn how to overcome your fear by being in the present moment during crunch time in sports competition.

You don’t ever really eliminate fears, instead, you Master them. You dominate them and use emotions like that to your advantage in sports and in life.

Fear is the biggest source of interference to your performance potential. When it happens, your muscles and nerves just don’t operate as well. You know this by how different you feel in practice or pickup games vs. competitive games.

So, step one is the lesson I have here today in this video:

** FEAR does not exist in the present moment.

It only gets developed by thinking about past mistakes or worrying about possible future failures. The way to overcome fear in sports is to practice getting into the present moment.

Any time you feel fear, all you need to do is direct your attention to your 5 senses and what they are taking in, right now, and your fears will instantly disappear.

Examples of being in the present moment: feel your feet on the ground, listen to the crowd, see the other players around you playing the game, etc.

This can be very powerful, if you practice it regularly. It can be done anytime and anywhere, especially at crunch time in competition. If used consistently, you will see the feelings of pressure start to fade away at crunch time. The great thing about the mental game and these tactics you are learning from me is that you can practice them anywhere. In fact, you do NOT want to just wait until your next competition to use mental skills.  You work them just like you practice and train on your physical skils.

Watch this video and the story and comment below when you are done.
